Parking

There is parking in the Kirkby Lonsdale Town Centre with a number of different options depending on the planned length of your stay.
There is also free parking in the area of Devil’s Bridge near where the A65 crosses the River Lune. Parking is available on both sides of the river. The town is on the west side of the river and can be accessed by a number of routes. A particularly nice route is along the river.

What to do in St Mary's

Worship
St Mary’s has a regular pattern of worship.
On Sunday morning there is a service at 11:00 am. On the 3rd Sunday of the month there is Evensong at 6:30 pm.
Every Thursday there is Holy Communion at 10:30 am.

Quiet Space
St Mary’s Church has a number of quieter spaces just to sit down and reflect or pray. You can also light a candle, perhaps as a symbol of light’s triumph over darkness or as a symbol of Jesus’ coming into the world.
History
Take a booklet and wander round the building appreciating its great history, magnificent architecture, wonderful windows or reading of some of the memorials to earlier generations.
Children
Take some time to use the play area in the north aisle including the rocking horse, books etc
St Mary's Events
The Church runs a number of arts and cultural events throughout the year both here at St Mary’s Church and also in other venues in the town. Many of the evening events also include a bar. Please the St Mary’s Events link at the top of the page.

Tourist Information Centre
The tourist information centre is located near the Market Square and will give details of attractions and events in the area. They also have a selection of gifts.
Ruskin's View
Ruskin’s view is just a few hundred metres north of the Church and was made famous by a comment of John Ruskin. In 1875, Ruskin described the panorama as ‘one of the loveliest views in England, therefore in the world’. From Ruskin’s View, you can walk down the Radical Steps to the river and follow the footpath to the scheduled ancient monument Devil’s Bridge, with its three ribbed medieval arches.
Visit the Shops
Kirkby Lonsdale boast a number of independent retailers with offerings to support everybody’s pocket. Most of the shops are between the Church and the Market Square.
Eating
Kirkby Lonsdale has a number of independent eateries including restaurants, pubs, cafes and take aways. You will be spoilt for choice
